Press Release – 1st February 2016
The Weyhill Fair Pub Chooses Enham Trust as Charity of the Year!
Leading Hampshire-based disability charity Enham Trust has been chosen by The Weyhill Fair as charity of the year for 2016.
A classic country pub in Andover, The Weyhill Fair has historic foundations within the area – built on the site of the original Weyhill Country Fair – and boasts award-winning ales, home-cooked food, and good old-fashioned service.
Landlords Mark Lazenby and Barry Long, who took over the pub in May 2014, chose the Trust as their charity of the year due to their existing connections with the charity; having held Enham Trust’s collection tins on their bar for a number of months, and cultivated personal and professional relationships with some of the Trust’s staff.
“We tend to pick a different charity every year,” comments Mark Lazenby. “And, knowing the good work that Enham Trust does, particularly locally, it seemed like a natural step to work with this charity throughout 2016.”
Keen to start working together as soon as possible, The Weyhill Fair and Enham Trust have already drawn up a calendar of events throughout the year, including car boot sales, family fun days, and quiz nights; even considering a sponsored fire walk later on in the year.
All funds raised by The Weyhill Fair on behalf of the charity will go towards the Trust’s vital work across the country; supporting over 7,500 disabled and disadvantaged people each year to live lives of choice, control and independence.
